Madison, NJ: The Drew University women's soccer team scored a golden-goal in overtime to propel the Rangers in a 2-1 victory at the Drew Fall Fest over Ramapo College this afternoon. The Rangers improve to 3-2 overall while the Roadrunners now stand at 2-3 on the year.
Neither team scored in the first half as the game went into halftime with a 0-0 score. Senior
Amber Hermanns scored the first goal of the game unassisted to put the Roadrunners up 1-0 in the second half in the 64th (63:43) minute of the game. That lead held for about four minutes as Sarah Racine took a pass from Alex Gilgorri in the 69th minute (68:08) as the Rangers tied the game 1-1.
The Rangers would record five more shots in the second half while the Roadrunners tallied just one shot before time expired in the half with the score tied at one all. Gilgorri would put home the game-winner for Drew just 2:37 into the overtime period while Leah Dentale assisted.
The Rangers held an 18-4 advantage in shots in the game while they posted all eight corners. Ramapo goalie
Elizabeth Harvell made five saves in the game while Brielle Castanheira came into the game to start the second half and posted one save.
The Roadrunners return to action when they host Centenary College in a non-conference game on September 13th at 4pm. Ramapo shut out the Cyclones last season 1-0 on the road as
Gabrielle Gentilucci scored the game-winner and Harvell recorded two saves.
