Middletown, PA: The Ramapo College men's soccer team dropped a tough 3-0 decision today to Penn-State Harrisburg in the opening match of their 2017 season on the road. The Roadrunners will return to Pennsylvania tomorrow as they take on Lancaster Bible at 1pm.
After a scoreless first half where the Lions led in shots 6-3, Chase Vilga would give the home team a 1-0 advantage at 52:49 off an assist from Creasy Lopez. The goal tuned out to be enough as the Roadrunners were held scoreless by Penn-State netminder, Hunter Cooper, who made four saves in the win earning his first shutout of the season.
Ramapo led in shots in the final 45 minutes of play, 7-6, but were unable to capitalize on their five shots on goal.
Joey Aman and Toma Nichik each added a goal for the Lions in the final minutes as Ethan Hoover earned assists on both of the goals, taking home the 3-0 win over Ramapo.
Penn-State Harrisburg held a 12-10 advantage in shots for the game while the Roadrunners earned four corner kicks to the Lions three.
Ryan Sprague played the complete game in net for Ramapo making three saves in the loss.
