Elmira, NY: The Ramapo College women's soccer team posted a 4-1 win over Elmira College in the opening game of the 2017 season. The Roadrunners (1-0) return home on Sunday afternoon to take on FDU-Florham in a non-conference game at 4pm.
The Roadrunners went up 1-0 in the first half (24:07) when the Elmira defense knocked in an own goal into the back of the net. Elmira's Taylor Hanson scored her first goal of the season to tie the game 1-1 (39:34) in the first half off a pass from Jordyn Rousselle.
Amber Hermanns put Ramapo in the lead for good with a goal at the end of the first half (42:34) off a pass from
Nani Vizcaino to take a 2-1 lead.
Ramapo led 12-3 in shots in the first half while they collected all five of the corner kicks.
Elizabeth Harvell tallied one save in the first half.
In the second half, N. Vizcaino put the Roadrunners up 3-1 in the second half (65:20) with a goal off a pass from her sister,
Liliann Vizcaino.
Gabrielle Gentilucci added the final goal of the game (87:03) when
Sydney Kauffman set up Gentilucci with the assist as the Roadrunners went up 4-1. Ramapo led 24-10 in shots in the game including 7-2 in corner kicks. Harvell collected five saves while Rachel Grampp posted 13 saves for Elmira.
