FONTANELLA DRIVES HOME GAME-WINNING RUN 4-3, ADVANCES RAMAPO TO NJAC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

Union, NJ: The Ramapo College baseball team advanced to the NJAC Championship game with a dramatic walk-off win over #3 Rowan University this afternoon. With the win the Roadrunners move on to face #1 the College of New Jersey at 5pm.

Mario Fontanella drove home the game-winning RBI with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th inning to propel Ramapo to a 4-3 walk-off win. The Roadrunners now move into the winner take all NJAC Championship game against #1 The College of New Jersey.
 
Brandon Martinez would put the Roadrunners up 3-0 in the bottom of the first inning with his team leading sixth home run of the season. Austin Unglaub singled and Rob DeAngelis drew a walk before Martinez stepped to the plate.
 
Rowan got on the board in the top of the seventh inning with two runs of their own. Back-to-back singles started the inning to put runners on first and third with no outs. Frankie Aiello put down a sac bunt allowing Alex Kokos to cross home plate before Jason Clapper drove home Steven Hewa to come within one 3-2. The Profs would tie the game, 3-3, in the eighth inning when Monny Strickland laced a double down the left field line allowing Dillon Mendel to score from first base. Mendel worked a walk to reach base earlier in the inning.
 
Neither team could push a run across in regulation sending the game into the 10th. Ramapo reliever Kevin Foulds sent the Profs down in order in the top of the inning before the Roadrunners loaded the bases with no outs. Connor Walsh singled to center field, Bobby Shannon put down a bunt single and Matt Chemis reached on an error to load the bases before Walsh was lifted for pinch runner Kevin Cagnetta at third base. Fontanella then drove the first pitch he saw into center field allowing Cagnetta to score the game-winning run 4-3.  

Foulds (4-0) worked the final 2.2 innings for Ramapo where he struck out five, walked none and scattered just two hits and surrendered no runs. CJ Growney earned a no-decision working the first 7.1 innings. He struck out four, walked two and scattered nine hits.
 
Walsh was 3-4 while Martinez was 1-5 with one run scored and three RBI. Fontanella and Unglaub each collected two hits in the game.
