Union, NJ: The top seeded College of New Jersey defeated #2 Ramapo College tonight 7-6 as the Lions came back to defeat the Roadrunners in the winner take all NJAC Tournament Championship game held at Kean University.
The win earns the Lions the NJAC's automatic bid to the upcoming NCAA Tournament while the Roadrunners will wait to see if they earn an at-large bid on Sunday, May 14th when the bracket is released on NCAA.com in the late evening. The Roadrunners are currently ranked #9 in the latest NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional rankings in games played through May 4th.

Ramapo got on the board first in the game when they scored a run in the top of the second inning for a 1-0 lead.
Brandon Martinez led off with a walk before he scored on
Mario Fontanella's single. In the third, Ramapo added four runs on four hits including two home runs.
Joe Maugeri led off with a single before he scored on a
Rob DeAngelis double to left field 2-0. Martinez then belted his team leading seventh home run of the season over the left field fence taking a 4-0 lead before
Bobby Shannon hit a solo home run over the left center field fence to take a 5-0 lead.

TCNJ began their come back in the fourth inning when they got on the board with two runs. Jacob Simon and Mike Follet each walked with two outs before Alex Christian laced a single up the middle plating Simon for their first run of the game. Tommy McMarthy then poked a single through the left side of the infield allowing Follet to score to come within three 5-2. In the seventh inning, the Lions added one run when Thomas Persichetti drove home McCarthy with a single before they tied the game in the eighth. CJ Gearhart walked and stole second before Christian drove him home with a double. Ben Varone then drove home the game-tying run with a single of his own allowing pinch runner Danny Borup to score 5-5.

Ramapo would score to take a 6-5 lead in the top of the ninth inning. DeAngelis led off with a single before he went first to third on a single down the right field line from Martinez.
Bobby Shannon then lifted a sac fly to left field platting DeAngelis to take the 6-5 lead.

In the bottom of the ninth, the Lions would score the game-tying run on an infield throwing error when Shindler reached on a fielder's choice and later scored on the error for a 6-6 tie. Following an intentional walk to load the bases with one out, Austin Lindsay worked a seven-pitch walk forcing home the game-winning run in Gearhart as the Lions came away with the 7-6 NJAC Championship game victory.

Matt Curry (7-0) earned the win on the mound for the Lion in relief. Brandon Zachary started the game and worked the first six innings, he struck out five, walked six and surrendered the first five runs. Zac deRocco worked the seventh an eighth innings with one strikeout and one walk while he did not give up a hit.

John Doherty (3-1) took the tough loss for Ramapo as he started the ninth inning. DeAngelis led the team at the plate finishing the game 3-4 with two runs scored and one RBI while Martinez and Shannon each recorded two RBI in the game. Martinez was 2-4 with two runs scored while Shannon was 1-3 with one run scored.
