WALSH LEADS RAMAPO IN 8-4 WIN

Chester, PA:  The Ramapo College baseball team defeated Widener University 8-4 behind a six RBI day from Connor Walsh. The Roadrunners improve to 26-16 overall while the Pride now stand at 26-16 overall.
 
Ramapo pounded out 13 hits in the game including Walsh's 3-5 day at the plate with two runs scored and six RBI. Rob DeAngelis and Brandon Martinez also collected three hits in the game.
 
The Roadrunners would get on the board early with two runs in the top of the first inning. The bases were loaded when two runs were able to score because of a Widener error as Joe Maugeri and Rob DeAngelis touched home plate.
 
The Pride got one run back in the bottom half of the inning before Rampao added an unearned run in the fourth. Walsh reach on an error and later scored on a sac fly from Mario Fontanella for a 3-1 score. In the fifth inning, the Roadrunners added four runs extending their lead 7-1. Maugeri reached on an error and ended up at third base on the play before DeAngelis drove him home with a single to left field 4-1. Martinez then singled before Walsh drove his first home run of the year over the left field wall pushing the lead 7-1.  
 
Widener added one run in the eighth while Ramapo got it back in the top of the ninth. DeAngelis led off with a single and stole second before Walsh drove him home with an RBI double to center field for the 8-2 lead. Widener added two runs in the bottom of the ninth before Ramapo got out of the inning with the 8-4 road victory.
 
Jerry D'Andrea (5-4) earned the win on the mound for the Roadrunners. He struck out two, walked five and scattered three hits over 6.1 innings of work. Kevin Foulds came in for relief for the final 2.2 innings. He surrendered five hits and three runs scored (two earned).
 
The Roadrunners, who are ranked 9th in the Mid-Atlantic region, will wait to see if they earn an at-large bid to the 2017 NCAA Tournament on Sunday night when the bracket is released on NCAA.com in the late evening.
