Mahwah, NJ: The Kean University baseball team defeated Ramapo College today at Jeff Maund Field 4-1. The Cougars improve to 16-10 overall 3-3 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners now stand at 9-12 overall, 3-3 in the conference.

TJ Locatelli (1-0) kept the Roadrunners off the board with six strikeouts and he scattered three hits over 7.1 innings of work. Austin Arndt recorded his second save of the season as he entered the game in the ninth inning with one out and the bases loaded.

Kean scored one run in the top of the third inning when Matt Krupa walked with two outs and advanced to third on a single from Nick Polizzano. Krupa later scored on a wild pitch for a 1-0 lead. The Cougars added one run in the fifth inning extending their lead to 2-0. Krupa drove home Derek Walker with a single up the middle. Walker led off the inning with a single to right center and moved to second following a sac bunt from Brian Cole. In the sixth, Kean scored two more runs to take a 4-0 lead.

Ramapo scratched a run across in the bottom of the ninth to get on the board.
Connor Walsh laced a single to center field to lead off the ninth before
Mario Fontanella walked. Following the first out,
Bobby Shannon singled to left field to load the bases. Arndt then entered the game for the Cougars and got a big strikeout for the second out before
Joe Maugeri worked a five-pitch walk to plate pinch runner
Tyler Curto to put Ramapo on the board. With the bases loaded Arndt then recorded a lineout to second base to end the Roadrunner threat as the Cougars posted a 4-1 NJAC conference win.

Jerry D'Andrea (5-3) took the loss for the Roadrunners as struck out two, walked five and scattered eight hits over the first six innings.
Kevin Foulds finished the game on the mound for Ramapo; he struck out three, walked one and surrendered only two hits.

The Roadrunners return to action on Tuesday, April 11th when they travel to the College of Staten Island for a non-conference game at 4pm.
