Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's volleyball team hosted a Skyline Conference tri-match today with the Sage Gators and the Purchase Panthers where Ramapo fell in a tough five-set match to Sage, before dropping Purchase in three. Ramapo now stands at 18-11 overall and 7-2 in the Skyline Conference.
Match 1: Sage 3 - Ramapo 2
The Roadrunners dropped a tough five set match-up to Sage College after taking the first two sets, 25-15 and 25-13. The Gators fought back to take the final three, 25-18, 25-11 and 17-15 taking home the conference win. Sage was led by Bailey Cecchi with 16 kills and Ryan Guyton with 14 as Shane Wenz collected 12 of his own. The team hit 53-112 with 23 errors hitting .268 in the win. Casey Fitzpatrick picked up a team leading 13 digs and Austin Laverty dished out 45 assists.
Justin Feigeles collected 15 kills for Ramapo and
Nick Amos added 11 while
Paul Close put away 11 in the loss. Ramapo hit a combined 49-126 with 27 errors hitting .175.
Lucas Inglis and Feigeles spilt the setting duties recording 22 and 17 respectively and Terrance Cando led the defense with nine digs.
Match 2: Sage 3 – Purchase 1
The Gators went 2-0 on the day as the defeated the Panthers of Purchase College 3-1 (25-8, 25-15, 23-25, 25-15). Cecchi led the Gators with 13 kills and Wenz added seven as the team combined for 43 kills on 102 attempts and 18 errors hitting .245. Laverty dished out 36 assists and Fitzpatrick led the defense with 13 digs. Cecchi added 11 digs in the win. Kevin Carges led the Panthers with ten kills and Andrew Schwab recorded five as the team hit .018 with 25 kills on 111 attempts and 23 errors. Riley Damerell dished out 19 assists and Carges led with seven digs.
Match 3: Ramapo 3 – Purchase 0
The Roadrunners fought back to take their second match of the day over Purchase, 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-21).
Connor Brandow and Amos both led the team with ten kills each as the team combine hitting 43-87 with 11 errors, .368. Inglis dished out 21 assists, Feigeles added 17 and Feigeles, Amos, Close and Cando each picked up five digs. Carges led Panthers with 13 kills as the team hit 30-78 with 17 errors hitting .167. Damerell dished out a team leading 23 assists and Damerell and Chris Williams each picked up six digs.
The Roadrunners will return to action this week in the Skyline Championship tournament as they host a semi-final match-up on Thursday at 7pm at the Bradley Center. Seeding and match-ups to be announced.
