D'ANDREA LEADS RAMAPO FROM MOUND

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College baseball team played host to NJAC rival Montclair State University today as they earned a 2-0 victory behind a strong pitching performance from Jerry D'Andrea.  Ramapo improves to 19-14 overall and 12-3 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference while the Red Hawks fall to 14-20 and 6-9.

D'Andrea pitched 8.2 innings and struck out eight as he let up just two hits in the two run victory.  On offense, the Roadrunners scattered ten hits as Joe Maugeri and Brandon Martinez each hit 2-4.  Martinez scored a run and drove one in while Connor Walsh hit 2-3 with one RBI.

In the 1st the Roadrunners got on the board as Martinez drove in Rob DeAngelis and Connor Walsh would cross Martinez to take a 2-0 lead after one.  Martinez reached first base on a single to center and DeAngelis would reach on a double, all with two outs.

That would be all it took as the Red Hawks threatened in the top of the 9th but with bases loaded, Greg Westhelle got the job done and shut down MSU to take the game and earn the save, his third of the season.

Phillip Scott and Joe Norton got the only two hits for MSU and Austin Minton gets the loss falling to 1-5 on the season.  He struck out three and walked three letting up ten hits and two runs.

Ramapo returns to action tomorrow as they travel to MSU for a 3:30pm match-up in the home away series.
