Newark, NJ: The Ramapo College baseball team swept a NJAC conference double header against Rutgers-Newark University 18-0 in game one and 14-2 in game two. The Roadrunners improve to 18-14 overall, 11-3 in the NJAC while the Scarlet Raiders fall to 21-10-1 overall, 8-6 in the conference.

Game 1:
John Doherty took a no-hitter into the ninth inning for Ramapo and recorded the first two outs before surrendering the first Scarlet Raider hit of the game. Doherty (2-0) went 9.2 innings, struck out eight, fired a one hitter and walked five.

Ramapo pounded out 19 hits in the game; they have recorded 16 or more hits in their last three games. The Roadrunners would score all the runs they would need in the top of the second inning.
Bobby Shannon singled and stole second base with one out before
Matt Chemis singled to put runners on first and third.
Mario Fontanella and
Joe Maugeri hit back-to-back singles plating both runners to take a 2-0 lead. Fontanella later scored on a bases loaded wild pitch for a 3-0 score. Ramapo added one in the fifth inning when
Rob DeAngelis singled home Maugeri before they added three runs in the sixth inning to extend the lead 7-0. Ramapo recorded one run in the seventh when DeAngelis scored on a wild pitch to make it 8-0 before they tacked on ten runs in the top of the ninth inning for an 18-0 lead.

Kyle Haag entered the game in the bottom of the ninth in relief of Doherty and recorded a strikeout looking to end the game.
Vincenzo Sita led the team with four RBI as he finished the game 2-5 with two runs scored.
Connor Walsh went 2-6 with three RBI and two runs scored while Maugeri also collected three hits on six at bats including two RBI and one run scored. DeAngelis added a 3-5 performance at the plate with three runs scored and one RBI. All nine Roadrunners in the lineup collected a hit in the game.

Game two: Ramapo scored eight runs in the top of the first inning. The bases were loaded for Walsh who ripped a single into center field plating two runs taking a 2-0 lead. Shannon then singled home
Brandon Martinez before Fontanella walked with the bases loaded forcing home Walsh to make it 4-0. Sita laced a double into the left-center field gap allowing Chemis and Shannon to score for a 6-0 lead before Maugeri plated Fontanella with a single of his own 7-0 and Sita scored on a wild pitch to push the score 8-0.

The Roadrunners added six runs in the second inning to take at 14-0 lead. The inning was highlighted by a bases loaded RBI single from Sita before DeAngelis picked up two RBI with a single of his own.

The Scarlet Raptors got on the board in the bottom of the third inning when Josh Cote singled to left field with the bases loaded to score one run before an error allowed the second run to cross home plate 14-2. Neither team pushed a run across the rest of the game as it was called after five innings of play.

Jerry D'Andrea (3-3) earned the win on the mound for Ramapo as he scattered two hits, struck out eight and walked two. The Roadrunners collected ten hits while Sita led the team in game two going 3-4 with three RBI and two runs scored.

Ramapo returns to action Monday when they host Neumann College at Jeff Maund Field in a non-conference game at 3:30pm.
