Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's lacrosse team played host to the Panthers of Old Westbury today as Ramapo would come out on top, 14-8 behind six goals from
Alyssa Tachon to improve to 4-3 overall on the year. With the loss Old Westbury falls to 0-5.
Tachon collected six goals on six shots to lead the Roadrunners to their fourth win of the season.
Colleen Manley posted three goals and Taylor Marciallis gets the win in goal making four saves.
The Roadrunners would get on the scoreboard first in the game as Manley took a pass from
Katie Duca and ripped it past the Old Westbury netminder with 25:17 on the clock. Ramapo took a 2-0 advantage with a goal from
Brianna Himpele before Old Westbury tied it up with back-to-back goals from Taylor Guarneri and Danielle Weir. Natasha Treuman gave the Panthers the lead at 16:02 and
Nicole Jaskot would tie it up 3-3 off an assist from
Molly Warner. With the game tied at 5-5, Ramapo would score five unanswered goals from Tachon (2), Warner (1) and Manley (2) to take a 10-5 halftime lead.
Ramapo out shot the Panthers 17-11 in the half and Marcialis made four saves in 16 minutes for Ramapo.
Monica Bubello made two saves in the remainder of the half while Ashley Gugliuzzo made five saves for the Panthers.
To start the half, Treuman posted a goal to close the gap, 6-10 before Jessica Tuckruskye added one for the Panthers to come within three, 7-10. Treuman would net a free position shot before Duca netted one to put Ramapo on top 11-8 with 20:52 to go in the game. Tachon netted her fourth of the match-up on a free position shot and posted her fifth with 18:35 to play off an assist from Warner to go ahead, 13-8. Tachon would close out the game with a final goal with just 28 seconds on the clock to take the non-conference win, 14-8.
Ramapo again held a shot advantage, 13-12 as Bubello finished with six saves in the second half of play. Gugliuzzo gets the loss for Old Westbury wrapping up the final 30 minutes of play with six saves for 11 in the game.
Ramapo travels to USMMA on March 28th when they return to action for a 7:30pm match-up on the road.
