#25 SOUTHERN MAINE SLIPS PAST #17 RAMAPO 12-11

Winter Haven, FL:  The #17 Ramapo College baseball team fell to #25 Southern Maine 12-11 in their final game at the RussMatt Invitational. The Roadrunners now stand at 4-5 overall while the Huskies even their record at 1-1 overall.
 
The Roadrunners held an early lead before the Huskies came back to take the lead in the sixth inning. In the first Ramapo got on the board when Bobby Shannon launched a lead off home run to for a 1-0 lead. Southern Maine tied the game with a run of their own in the second inning, before Ramapo added four runs in the third inning. Shannon and Rob DeAngelis singled before Joe Maugeri plated Shannon. Brandon Martinez smacked his second home run of the season, a three run shot over the left field fence to put the Roadrunners up 5-1.
 
Southern Maine got one back in the third as their second run of the game came across on a wild pitch 5-2. In the fourth, Shannon picked up another RBI with a single allowing Ryan MacNaughton to come around and score taking a 6-2 lead. MacNaughton led off the inning with a double. The Huskies plated two runs in the bottom half of the fourth to come within two 6-4 before Ramapo added one run in the top of the fifth. Shannon drove home Austin Unglaub with a RBI sac fly for a 7-4 lead, Unglaub singled earlier in the inning to reach base.
 
The Huskies would take an 8-7 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning with four runs on five hits. The inning was highlighted with a two RBI double from Andrew Olszak. They extended their lead to 11-7 in the seventh inning with three more runs before Ramapo made a come back in the final two innings. In the eighth inning Martinez led off with a single before Connor Walsh ripped a double to put runners on second and third with no outs. Matt Chemis then ripped a pinch-hit two RBI single plating both runs to shrink the lead 11-9. In the ninth the Roadrunners plated two runs to tie the game. Shannon led off with a single, DeAngelis doubled and Martinez drove them both home with a hard hit single to tie the game 11-11.
 
The Huskies would plate the game winning run in the bottom half of the inning. Kaleb Bridgham led off with a pinch-hit single before being lifted for a pinch runner. Olszak then hit a double to put runners on second and third before Matt Bender was intentionally walked to load the bases with not outs. Following a strike out Sam Staube plated the game-winning run with a single for the 12-11 win. 
 
Jerry D'Andrea came into pitch the ninth inning and earned the tough loss. John Doherty started the game for the Roadrunners; he struck out three, walked two and gave up six runs over five innings of work.
 
Shannon finished the game 4-5 with three runs scored and three RBI while Martinez went 3-5 with two runs scored and five RBI. DeAngelis collected three hits and two runs scored while Maugeri and Unglaub each collected to hits in the game.
 
The Roadrunners scheduled to return to action at Drew University on March 22nd for non-conference game at 3:30pm.
