#17 RAMAPO GETS TWO OVER UW-STEVENS POINT

Auburndale, FL:  The #17 ranked Ramapo College baseball team swept UW-Stevens Point, 6-4 and 15-5 today to improve to 4-4 overall on the year behind Brandon Martinez's offensive performances in both games of the double-header match-up. UW-Stevens Point falls to 1-3 on the day.

Game 1: The Roadrunners scattered 11 hits across eight innings and scored six runs in the first game of the double-header behind Martinez's 2-3 hitting performance.  Austin Unglaub went 2-3 and Joe Maugeri and Bobby Shannon each hit 2-4 in the win.  Martinez and Unglaub each scored a run as Martinez posted a RBI and Shannon drove in two in the win.

CJ Growney gets the win to improve to 1-1 as he pitched seven innings, striking out five and walking two.  Kyle Haag came in in relief and earns the save in the final two innings.  He struck out three and walked none.  The save was his second of the season.

UW-Stevens Point would take a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning as Ryan Stanicek drove in Ben Gerber who singled to lead off the inning and they would go ahead 3-0 in the 3rd before the Roadrunners would get on the board when Unglaub crossed home plate on a sac fly from Mario Fontanella.

Ramapo would tack on one run in the 4th off a wild pitch and the tying run would score in the 5th when Matt Garland scored on a Matt Chemis sac fly.  Shannon would drive in Kevin Cagnetta and Fontanella in the 7th inning to take a 5-3 advantage.  Cagnetta pinch ran for Chemis who singled to center earlier in the inning and Fontanella reached on a fielder's choice to get on base.

UW-Stevens Point would close the gap in the 8th but a final run from the Roadrunners in the bottom of the inning would seal the game at 6-4.
