Osceola, FL: The Ramapo College softball team swept on day two of the Rebel Spring Games to improve to 3-1 overall. The Roadrunners blanked the University of Dubuque 3-0 before they defeated rival McDaniel 10-2 in six innings.

In game one,
Katrina Buczkowski (1-1) fired a two-hit shutout while the Roadrunners pounded out ten hits in the game. Ramapo got on the board in the fourth inning with the eventual game-winning run when
Carly Vadinsky singled home pinch runner
Kristen Ruggiero for a 1-0 lead. Ruggiero pinch ran for
Kendra Decker who reached on an infield error to lead off the inning. SiSi Machinski then plated the second run of the inning with a sacrifice fly to center field allowing
Nicole Hernandez to score 2-0. Hernandez smacked a double to the left field fence earlier in the inning.

Jackie Howarth led off the top of the seventh inning with a double to right-center field before she stole third base and scored on a throwing error by the Dubuque catcher for a 3-0 lead. In the bottom of the seventh inning
Paige Merle came in for relief to earn her first save of the season. She faced four batters while she struck out one and walked one. Hernandez led the team at the plate in game one finishing 3-3 with one run scored.

In game two, Ramapo scored ten runs on 14 hits in a run-ruled six inning game. The Roadrunners got on the board in the bottom of the first inning to take a quick 2-0 lead. Howarth led off with a single before Hernandez and
Grace Brennan hit back-to-back singles to load the bases for Decker. Decker ripped a single to center field allowing Hernandez and Brennan to score.

McDaniel got one run back in the top of the third inning. Payton Lewis drove home Kaitlin Yealy with a single to left field to come within one 2-1. Ramapo added one run in the third and two runs in the fourth to take a 5-1 lead. In the third inning,
Nicole Mahoney laced a triple down the left field line as Hernandez came around to score from second base for a 3-1 lead. Hernandez poked a single through the left side of the infield to lead off the inning.

In the fourth inning,
Olivia Mahon reached on a fielding error to lead off the inning before stealing second base. Howarth drove home Mahon with a double down the left field line before she stole third base. Brennan then drove home Howarth with a single to left field extending the lead 5-1. McDaniel tacked one run on in the top of the fifth inning before Ramapo added two runs on two hits in the bottom half of the inning. With two outs pinch-hitter
Shannon Cox smacked a double to center field before Machinski drove her home with a single to left field. Machinski advanced to second on the relay throw from the outfield and later advanced to third on a pass ball. Patsko then reached on an infield error allowing Machinski to cross home plate for a 7-1 lead. The Roadrunners would make it a run-ruled game when they scored three runs on three hits in the bottom of the sixth.
Tara Eller ripped a pinch-hit single to center field allowing Decker to come around and score before Machinski doubled to right field as Mahoney touched home plate. Eller later scored on an infield error to plate the game winning run 10-2.

Ramapo starting pitcher
Erin Fitzsimmons (1-0) recorded a career high 12 strikeouts in the win. She surrendered only three hits, three walks and two runs scored. Machinski led the Roadrunners at the plate going 3-4 with two RBI and one run scored while Hernandez, Brennan, Decker and Mahony all recorded two hits. Decker finished 2-4 with two RBI and one run scored.

The Roadrunners return to action on Tuesday, March 14th with a game at 11:15am against Skidmore College before they take on #12 Trine University at 3:45pm.
