Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's soccer team posted a 5-2 win today over the Knights of Berkeley College to improve to .500 at 7-7 overall behind two goals from
Edward Franzoni. Berkeley falls to 10-5 overall on the year.
Under two minutes into the game Franzoni ripped a ball past the Berkeley netminder off a pass from
Trevor Albrecht to take a 1-0 lead.
The Roadrunners would go ahead 3-0 with goals from
Guilherme DeNovaes, off an assist from
Brady White, and
Ariton Mimini assisted by Franzoni, before Franzoni would strike again at 27:32 off an assist from
Joseph Fala to go ahead four goals to none.
Berkeley got on the board at 33:58 when they capitalized on an awarded penalty kick taken by Wender Lima heading into the intermission trailing Ramapo, 4-1.
At the halftime buzzer, Ramapo led in shots 11-1 and 5-1 in corner kicks. Wily Peralta made four saves in goal for Berkeley.
At the start of the second half, Ramapo's
David Inahuazo scored a PK of his own to put Ramapo on top, 5-1 and Berkeley would close the gap at 67:39 with a goal from Kevin Soares.
Ramapo again led in shots in the final half of play 7-4. Peralta four additional saves in the half totaling eight in the loss and Bryan Jones Jr. made one save for Ramapo.
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, October 11th when they travel to Rutgers Newark for a 7:30pm match-up.
