Newark, NJ: The #6/10 Rutgers Newark University men's soccer team remained undefeated in the New Jersey Athletic Conference with a 1-0 shutout over Ramapo College. The Scarlet Raiders improve to 15-1 overall and 6-0 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners now stand at 7-8 overall and 2-4 in the conference.

The Scarlet Raiders held a slight edge in shots on goal in the game 5-4 while they made an early goal count for their third straight win. The goal came in the third minute of action (2:31) and proved to be the game-winner as Fabio De Sousa scored his 14th goal of the season off a pass from Hubert Dul for the early lead. That shot, which was the first in the game for either team, was followed by three straight shots on goal for the Roadrunners but none could find the back of the net to tie the game. Ramapo held a 7-5 advantage in shots in the first half while neither team recorded a corner kick.

The Scarlet Raider defense would hold Ramapo to just three shots in the second half while they recorded nine shots of their own. Andres Medina recorded four saves in the game while
Ryan Sprague posted four for the Roadrunners.

Ramapo returns to action on the road on Saturday, October 14th at NJAC rival New Jersey City University at 2pm. The Roadrunners defeated NJCU 3-1 during the 2016 season
