FRANZONI LEADS RAMAPO IN 7-1 WIN OVER CCNY

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's soccer team defeated the City College of New York today in non-conference action 7-1. The Roadrunners improve to 5-7 overall while the Beavers now stand at 0-10 on the year.
 
Edward Franzoni posted a team high nine points in the game with four goals and one assist to lead the team on offense in the win. Following one goal from the Beavers from Kamaroudine Tchabalandja to put them in a 1-0 lead (22:48), Franzoni scored his first goal of the game off a pass from Pablo Loza to even the score 1-1 in the 26th minute (25:10). Franzoni earned an assist as Trevor Albrecht scored his second goal of the season in the 36th minute (35:36) to take a 2-1 lead before Edward Reyes hit the back of the net off a pass from Diego Galiz in the 45th minute (44:24) to go up 3-1 in the first half.
 
Franzoni started the second half off with an unassisted goal (51:13) before Guilherme DeNovaes scored his second goal of the year in the 53rd minute (52:15). Albrecht assisted on DeNovaes' goal to put the Roadrunners up 5-1. Franzoni tallied his sixth goal of the year and fourth of the game with an unassisted goal in the 55th minute (54:06) before Paul Montufar scored his first goal of the year off a pass from Reyes, extending the Ramapo lead 7-1.
 
Ramapo dominated with 27 shots in the game to the Beavers seven while the Roadrunners also led in corner kicks 9-3. Ramapo goalie Joshua Schaffer posted three saves in his first collegiate win while Bryant Ibarra tallied eight saves for CCNY.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, October 7th when they host NJAC rival The College of New Jersey at 1pm. The Lions defeated Ramapo 2-1 in OT during the 2016 season.
