MOUSKOURIE LEADS RAMAPO OVER STOCKTON 3-2

Mahwah, NJ: The senior trio of Gianna Mouskourie, Lauren Berry and Emily Wisneski helped lead the Ramapo College field hockey team over NJAC rival Stockton University today 3-2. The Roadrunners who honored their senior class prior to the game improve to 7-9 overall, 2-3 in the NJAC while the Ospreys fall to 9-7 overall and 1-4 in the conference.
 
The Ospreys scored the first goal of the game early, in the second minute of action (1:52) when Leah Davies found Alexa Massa infront of the net as she put Stockton on the board, 1-0. Ramapo's Melissa Choka put Ramapo on the board with her eighth goal of the season when Roni Wellema passed her the ball off a scramble following a penalty corner to tie the game up 1-1 (7:14). The Roadrunners would take the lead just over two minutes later when Gianna Mouskourie hit the back of the cage to take a 2-1 lead, her seventh goal of the season. Massa would score her team leading 13th goal of the year for the Ospreys to tie the game at two with fewer than ten minutes to play in the half. Ramapo was awarded a penalty stroke with 3:16 left to play in the half while the Ospreys opted to sub in goalie Niya Calloway for the penalty stroke. The moved worked in the Ospreys favor as Calloway made a big save to keep the game tied at two. The score would remain tied 2-2 head into halftime while the Ospreys held a 14-6 advantage in shots and a 6-2 lead in penalty corners.
 
Mouskourie would score the eventual game-winner with 8:31 left to play in the game when she ran through the Stockton defense and ripped a shot into the back of the net for a 3-2 lead. Wisneski and the Roadrunner defense controlled the final minutes of the game as the team came away with their second NJAC win of the year. The Roadrunners seven wins this season are the most since the 2011 when they finished 11-6 overall.  
 
Wisneski finished with 15 saves on the night while Victoria Ewanis made a big defensive save during the second half with the scored tied 2-2.
 
Emily Sorochynskyj made five saves for Stockton while Calloway tallied one of her own. Stockton held a 26-12 advantage in shots in the game and a 10-6 edge in penalty corners.

Ramapo honored seniors Gianna Mouskourie, Lauren Berry, Emily Wisneski and Taylor Marcialis prior to the game.
 
The Roadrunners return to action in their final regular season game of the season on Friday, October 27th when they travel to #9 Montclair State University for a NJAC matchup at 6:00pm. During the 2016 season the Red Hawks defeated Ramapo 6-1. Ronni Wellema scored for Ramapo while Wisneski collected 23 saves.
