MEN'S SOCCER FALLS AT WCSU 1-0

Danbury, CT:  The Western Connecticut State University men's soccer team earned a 1-0 shutout over Ramapo College tonight in non-conference action. The Colonials improve to 11-6 overall while the Roadrunners now stand at 8-9 on the year.

Following a scoreless first half, Mikey Sciortino scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 64th minute (63:48) for the Colonials off a pass from Harrison Allers to take a 1-0 lead.

Ramapo would get two chances with shots on goal to tie the game, each shot on goal from Edward Franzoni, but Colonial goalkeeper Daniel Szabo was there to earn the saves. He recorded five saves in the game while Roadrunner goalie Ryan Sprague posted 11 saves for Ramapo. WCSU posted 12 shots on goal and 21 shots overall in the game while the Roadrunners recorded five shots on goal and ten shots overall. The Colonials also earned all six corners awarded in the game.

The Roadrunners return to action this Saturday when they host NJAC rival Rowan University. The Profs are currently ranked #6 in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll and #9 in the D3soccer.com Top 25 Poll. Ramapo fell to Rowan 3-1 during the 2016 season.
