Victoria Ewanis scored the game winning goal for the Ramapo College field hockey team in a 2-1 double overtime victory over NJAC rival William Paterson University today at the Athletic Center. The Roadrunners improve to 6-9 overall and 1-3 in the NJAC including their first conference win since the final game of the 2015 season. The Pioneers drop to 2-12 overall and 0-4 in the conference.
After both teams had chances to score in the first overtime period it was Ewanis that connected off a pass from
Gianna Mouskourie in front of the cage and scored the game-winning goal for the Roadrunners (92:56), her third of the season.
Nicole Goitiandia put WPU on the board in the 16th minute (15:48) of action to take an early 1-0 lead. Ramapo would tie the game in the second half (47:31) when Mouskourie scored her sixth goal of the year, unassisted to tie the game 1-1. The Pioneers posted eight shots in the second half but Wisneski posted seven saves to keep the game tied at one.
Ramapo edged WPU in shots 15-14 while each team collected 12 penalty corners. Wisneski tallied 12 saves in the game while Mallory Rickerhauser posted six saves for the Pioneers.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, October 21st when they host Stockton University at 3:30pm. Ramapo will honor their senior class in a pre-game ceremony. During the 2016 season the Ospreys defeated Ramapo 3-0.
