Montclair, NJ: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team won a key NJAC match over rival Montclair State University 3-1 (25-18, 25-21, 22-25, 25-22). The Roadrunners improve to 14-6 overall, 4-1 in the NJAC while the Red Hawks now stand at 10-9 overall, 2-4 in the conference.
The Roadrunners were led by
Larysa Iwaskiw who recorded a double-double with 34 kills and 14 digs. She also recorded one ace and two assists in the match.
Judy Errichetti helped lead the team hitting .314 with 13 kills on 35 attempts and just two errors while
Hannah Frascella posted four kills and one block.
Samantha Main posted one solo block and one assisted block while adding three kills on four attempts to hit .750 in the match.
Kate Shirkey and
Sara Correa split setting duties as Shirkey posted 23 assists and Correa tallied 21 of her own. Shirkey also led the team with four aces while she added seven digs.
Karina Almeda posted a team high 18 digs on defense along with one ace and three assists. The team hit .273 in the match with 58 kills on 139 attempts and 20 errors.
MSU was led by Natalia Majkut, who recorded 13 kills on 29 attempts with just two errors as she hit .379 in the match. Jillian Wilson and Schyler White posted nine kills while Caitlin Lange added seven of her own. Ashley Griffith dished out a team high 38 assists and Lily Scanzillo led the team with three aces and 14 digs on defense. The Red Hawks hit .226 in the match with 46 kills on 124 attempts and 18 errors.
The Roadrunners return to action on Thursday, October 12th when they host Rutgers-Newark University in a NJAC match at 7pm in the Bradley Center. Ramapo defeated the Scarlet Raiders during the 2016 season 3-1 (25-21, 25-13, 17-25, 25-23).
