#4 TCNJ PROVES TOO MUCH FOR RAMAPO

Ewing, NJ: The College of New Jersey field hockey team remained undefeated in the NJAC with a 6-0 victory over Ramapo College tonight. The Lions, who are ranked #4 in the most recently NFHCA Top 25 poll, improved to 9-2 overall, 4-0 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners drop to 5-9 overall and 0-3 in the conference.
 
The Roadrunners held the Lions scoreless in the first have until the final four minutes of action. Roadrunner goalie Emily Wisneski tallied six saves and Victoria Ewanis stopped a shot with a defensive save prior to the Lions scoring their first goal of the game. Samantha Reed scored her second goal of the season to put TCNJ on the board in the 32nd minute (31:27) before Cayla Andrews took a pass from Kayla Peterson for her sixth goal of the season in the 34th minute (33:20) for a 2-0 lead.
 
TCNJ extended their lead with four goals in the second half. Peterson scored her fourth goal of the year off a penalty corner before Tori Tiefenthaler and Elizabeth Morrison each scored their 10th goal of the year, both goals unassisted for a 5-0 score. Iris Schuck took a pass from Morrison in the final minute of action (65:05) to tally her first goal of the season to make it 6-0 TCNJ.
 
Wisneski recorded 13 saves in the game while Ewanis and Stacey Faria each collected one defensive save. TCNJ held a 32-2 advantage in shots in the game along with a 16-1 edge in penalty corners. Christina Fabiano and Madison Beaumont split time in the cage for the Lions. Fabiano (61:11) recorded one save in the combined shutout while Beaumont (8:49) did not need to make a save in the final minutes of the game.
 
The Roadrunners return to action when they host William Paterson University on Wednesday, October 18th at 4pm. The Pioneers defeated Ramapo 4-1 during the 2016 season.
