WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS AT KING'S

Wilkes-Barre, PA:  The Ramapo College women's basketball team fell on the road 57-46 to King's College in a non-conference match-up. The Roadrunners now stand at 6-8 overall while King's improves to 2-8 on the year.

The Roadrunners led by three at halftime 27-24 before King's outscored the Roadrunners in the third quarter 18-8 to take a 42-35 lead they would hold onto for their second win of the season. In the second quarter Ramapo would take the lead when Kellie Lane converted on an and-one play and Shelby Ringer drained a three-pointer as they lead 17-15. King's would tie the game at 22 all with three minutes left in the half before Jina Crawford started a 5-2 run to end the quarter. Crawford his a basket with under two minutes on the clock before Bridgette Buckalew drained a three-pointer of her own for a 27-22 lead. Rebecca Prociak posted the final points for King's in the second quarter with a layup with three-seconds remaining.

 In the third quarter King's started off on a 9-2 run to take a 33-29 lead, a lead they would not give up. In the fourth quarter Ramapo came within one on a layup from Crawford, capping off a 7-0 run with 6:39 left in the game. King's would go on an 11-0 run of their own to stretch their lead back to 56-45 with 1:40 left on the clock.

Crawford led the Roadrunners with 10 points, six rebounds, one assist and one block while Lane posted nine points, one rebound, two steals and two assists. Bintou Berete recorded seven points, eight rebounds while Tia Solomon posted a team high two blocks along with three points and three rebounds. The Roadrunners shot 30% (15-50) from the floor, 30% (3-10) from the three-point line and 59% (13-22) from the free throw line. The Ramapo defense caused 16 turnovers for King's which resulted in 11 points for the Roadrunners.

King's had three players score in double figures in the game with Alexis Steeber leading the way with 19 points and ten rebounds. Kayla Feairheller added 15 points while Prociak posted 11 points of her own. The team shot 37% (20-53) from the floor, 30% (6-20) from the three-point line and 552% (11-21) from the free throw line.

The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, January 11th when they host NJAC rival Rowan University at the Bradley Center at 5:30pm.
