TCNJ OUTLASTS RAMAPO, 47-42

Mahwah, NJ:  The Lions of the College of New Jersey outlasted the Ramapo College women's basketball team, 47-42 today in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up at the Bradley Center.  With the victory the Lions improve to 6-7 overall and 3-4 in the conference.  Ramapo falls to 6-7 overall and 1-6 in NJAC play.
 
Nikki Schott finished the day with a team leading double-double including 14 points and 11 rebounds as Kim Dana chipped in ten points of her own.  Charlotte Schum pulled down nine rebounds and Dana dished out five assists.  The Lions combined hitting 15-50 (30%) from the field.
 
The two teams traded baskets to start the first quarter after Bridgette Buckalew opened the scoring for Ramapo with a three-point basket.  With 2:36 on the clock, Jina Crawford would nail down two-points to tie the game at 9-9, before Buckalew closed out the quarter with two points to lead, 12-11 at the buzzer.  With 6:06 on the clock in the second quarter, Jessica Repasy hit a jumper to take a 14-13 lead before hitting a second basket to go up 16-13.  Crawford hit the back end of a two-shot foul to take a 17-14 lead but Christine Woods and Schum hit back-to-back baskets to put TCNJ in the lead at 18-17 with 2:35 to play.  Repasy scored the final basket of the half to put Ramapo ahead, 19-18 at the halftime buzzer.  The Roadrunners hit 8-21 (38%) in the half with Repasy leading the way with six points.  The Lions hit a combined 7-25 (28%).  Four Lions collected three points each.
 
To start the third quarter, the two teams again went point for point until with 5:20 on the clock, a basket from Schott would put the Lions ahead, 24-21.  Jenna Harsh would respond with a two-point goal and Repasy would hit a free throw to tie the game at 24.  Ringer nailed down a three-point goal at 2:14 to jump ahead 28-25 and before the Roadrunners would finish the quarter with a 30-27 advantage.  Crawford started the scoring in the fourth quarter to go up, 32-27 and with a long shot from Ringer Ramapo would go up, 35-29 forcing a Lion would timeout.  Kate O'Leary responded with a three of her own coming out of the timeout before Schott capitalized on an and-one play to tie the game at 35.  Down the stretch after trading baskets, TCNJ would lead by one with the ball in Ramapo's hands with 22 seconds to play.  Ramapo turned the ball over and after fouling, Dana would hit two free throws to lead 45-42.  The Lions would sink two more free throws and Ramapo was unable to answer giving TCNJ the 47-42 win.  Schott led the Lions in the half with 11 points and Dana chipped in seven.  The team hit 8-25 from the field.  Ringer led Ramapo with eights points and the team combined for 7-29.
 
Repasy led all Roadrunners with ten points and Ringer added eight in the loss as the team matched TCNJ hitting 15-50 (30%). Buckalew and Crawford each chipped in seven points.  Buckalew grabbed four steals on the day.
 
Ramapo returns to action on Monday, January 9th when they travel to King's for a 6pm tip-off.
