#18 MSU GETS PAST RAMAPO IN NJAC ACTION

Mahwah, NJ:  The #18 ranked Red Hawks of Montclair State University defeated the Ramapo College women's basketball team, 69-38 tonight to improve to 17-1 overall and 10-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.  The Roadrunners fall to 7-12 overall and 2-10 in the conference. 
 
Four Red Hawks scored in double-digit points as Zoe Curtis collected 14 points and Rachael Krauss added 11.  Katie Sire and Taylor Harmon each netted ten points as the team went 22-63 (35%).  Sire pulled down nine rebounds and Kate Tobie and Kiarra Dillard each dished out three assists.  MSU forced 15 Ramapo turnovers on the night as they grabbed six steals. 
 
MSU quickly jumped out to a 16-5 lead after the first quarter of play where the Red Hawks strung together three separate runs, 5-0, 4-0, and 6-0. Curtis would lead the Red Hawks with five points sinking a three-point goal to cap the first run of the game and put MSU on top, 5-0. Tobie capped the 6-0 run with a free throw to close out the quarter.  In the second, the Red Hawks would continue to spread the gap, stringing together an 11-0 run at 7:41, sparked with a three-point goal from Krauss and capped with a basket from Dillard.  The Red Hawks finished on top, 40-12 at the half where Krauss led with 11 points and Curtis added seven.  MSU went 12-29 (41%) while the Roadrunners were held to just two field goals 2-20 (10%).
 
In the third quarter, the Roadrunners would out score the Red Hawks, 13-8 to close the gap, 25-48 behind four points from Tia Solomon and three from Jillian Artrip.  Ramapo put together a mini 4-0 run in the quarter with points from Solomon and Bridgette Buckalew, before stringing together five points with a three-point goal from Artrip and a basket from Samantha Rinaldi to end the quarter.  The final quarter went to the Red Hawks as they pushed to a 34-point lead taking the game 69-38 in NJAC play. 
 
Solomon led the Roadrunners with 11 points and Artrip finished with five as the team hit 11-49 (22%) in the loss.  Buckalew grabbed seven boards on the night.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, January 28th when they travel to Kean for a 7pm tip.
