Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

CAMPBELL COLLECTS THREE POINTS IN NON-CONFERENCE WIN

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College men's soccer team, behind a game winning goal from rookie Joseph Fala, posted a come-from-behind victory today over the Warriors of Eastern Connecticut, 2-1.  With the win Ramapo improves to 2-0 overall while ECSC falls to 0-2 to open the 2016 season.

It was Eastern Connecticut who got on the board first in the game as Justin Grant ripped a shot from far out putting the Ramapo netminder off balance, to put the Warriors ahead 1-0 at the 34:38 minute mark.  It would be the only goal of the half as the game remained tied at the halftime buzzer.  Ramapo out shot the Warriors, 10-4 in the opening half, with Ryan Sprague making three saves in net.  Ryan Murphy would collect three saves as well for the Warriors in the first 45 minutes of play.

In the final half, Ryan Campbell collected his first goal of the season as he took a pass from Trevor Albrecht at 54:21, ripping it past the diving Murphy, to tie the game at one goal apiece.  The rookie, Fala, collected a ball from Campbell with just over six minutes to play, earning the game winner and the 2-1 victory.

"Fala stepped in today for an injured Justin Olaya and he did a phenomenal job," said Head Coach DJ Pinton.  Fala comes to the college out of Cape May Court House, NJ and collected his first collegiate goal today in the team's 2-1 non-conference victory.

Ramapo again held an edge in shots in the second half posting 12 to the Warriors' three, and Sprague blocked three saves in the final period.

Pinton added, "this is a good bunch (of guys) working for each other right now which is the most important thing.  If they can continue to do that, I think we will have a successful season."

Ramapo held a slight 4-3 advantage in corners for the game while they outshot the Warriors 22-7 on the day.

Ramapo returns to action next weekend when they travel to Stockton Seashore Classic to face off with Susquehanna University and FDU-Florham.
