IWASKIW RECORDS 30 KILLS IN 3-1 WIN OVER RIVAL STOCKTON

Mahwah, NJ: Junior Larysa Iwaskiw recorded a season-high 30 kills, including the game winner as the Ramapo College women's volleyball team defeated NJAC rival Stockton University 3-1 (25-23, 17-25, 25-23, 25-23) tonight at the Bradley Center. The Roadrunners remain undefeated in NJAC action at 3-0 while they stand at 15-3 overall. The Ospreys drop to 13-6 overall and 2-1 in the conference.
 
The Roadrunners last defeated the Ospreys on October 28th, 2014 in a 3-0 match at the Bradley Center. Ramapo also snapped a 14 NJAC match win streak tonight for the Ospreys. In game one, with the Roadrunners up 23-20 by back-to-back kills from senior Emily Guzman and Iwaskiw, the Ospreys would take a timeout. Stockton would score the next three points to tie the game at 23 before Guzman put down a kill for the 24th point of the match. She then went back to serve for match point and recorded an ace to seal the win 25-23. Stockton led in game two the whole game and came away with a 25-17 win as the Ramapo had to regroup for game three. In game three, Stockton went up 5-0 to before Ramapo took a quick timeout. Ramapo and Stockton would tie the game 12 times during game three, the final time at 23-23 when the Ospreys got a kill from Stephanie Kovacs. Ramapo would get the ball back to serve game point, 24-23 and rookie Karina Almeda tallied an ace to win the 25-23. Game four was just as exciting with 14 ties and seven lead changes. Neither team could pull away by more than two points before Almeda came up big with back-to-back kills to take a 23-22 lead. Senior Rachel Selmore tallied a kill for point 24 before Iwaskiw put the match away with the 25th point and her 30th kill of the night.
 
Iwaskiw posted four total blocks in the match, 13 digs and two aces to help lead her team to victory. Guzman added nine kills and one solo block while Selmore dished out a team high 27 assists. Selmore also added three kills and ten digs. Almeda came up big in the third and fourth sets, hitting .538 in the match. Almeda tallied seven total kills along with seven digs. Sophomore Kristen Behrens led the team on defense with 17 digs while senior Natalia Saavedra added eight of her own. Ramapo hit .139 in the match with 54 kills on 173 attempts.
 
For the Ospreys, Idi Uffen led the team hitting .522 with 13 kills on 23 attempts with only one error while Sarah Walsh added ten kills and Lindsay Schuele posted nine of her own. Faith Hoagland and Jessica Ciandella each dished out 20 assists and Rebecka Zabilowicz tallied a match high 28 digs. Jenna Lara led the team with four blocks while Schuele added three of her own. The team hit .188 in the match with 51 kills on 154 attempts and 22 errors.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Friday when they host Brooklyn College in the Roadrunner Invitational at 5pm.
