Mahwah, NJ: In a New Jersey Athletic Conference men's soccer match-up, the Roadrunners and the Ospreys of Stockton University played to a 1-1 tie after 110 minutes of play. The Roadrunners now stand at 7-0-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the conference while the Ospreys stand at 2-4-3 overall and 0-1-1 in conference play.
A late goal from the Ospreys with under a minute to play forced overtime in Mahwah. The two teams played scoreless soccer in the overtime periods leaving the teams knotted at the final buzzer.
After a scoreless first half where Ramapo held an advantage in shots 8-4, junior
Justin Olaya ripped a shot off an assist from
Jorge Castro on a set play to take a 1-0 lead at 52:43. It looked as if Ramapo had the win in the books until with 41 seconds left in the game, the Ospreys pushed up the field where Dan Marino beat
Ryan Sprague to tie the game at one goal apiece and force overtime play. The assist on the goal going to Alex Kourahanis.
In the second half, Ramapo again held a lead in shots at 9-8 as the Roadrunners also held a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks. Sprague made three saves and Michael Lescano made four in net for Stockton in the second half.
In overtime, the two teams were evenly matched as they each collected three shots. Ramapo led -1 in corner kicks and Sprague made one save to Lescano's two.
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, September 28th when they travel to William Paterson for a 7pm conference match-up.
