Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's tennis team defeated NJAC rival Rutgers-Newark University 8-1 for their third straight victory. The Roadrunners improve to 3-1 overall, 2-1 in the NJAC while the Scarlet Raiders fall to 2-5 overall and 1-3 in the conference.
Ramapo swept their three matches in doubles action heading into singles play, highlighted by
Emily Biunno and Megha Mehta posting a shutout over their opponents at second doubles 8-0.
Sabrina Koropchak defeated Jessica Smoot at first singles, 6-1 & 6-0 while Biunno won at second singles over Nell Karpinski, 6-3 & 6-1. At fourth singles, Mehta blanked Jamie Lee Buhain, 6-0 & 6-0 and Brittany Metzlaff won 8-5 over Julibeth Hernandez.
Christine Bednarz then shutout Melissa Saenz at sixth singles, 6-0 & 6-0.
The Roadrunners return to action Saturday when they host Rutgers-Camden University for a NJAC match at 1pm.
