Emily Guzman led the Ramapo College women's volleyball team to a 3-0 (25-15, 25-9, 25-15) shut out victory over New Jersey City University tonight to improve to 2-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference and 12-3 overall. With the loss the Gothic Knights fall to 6-4 overall and 0-3 in conference play.
With 15 kills, Iwaskiw led the Lady Roadrunners to their second straight sweep in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. Iwaskiw hit .406 with just two errors on 32 attempts. Guzman picked up eight kills and hit .429 in the win. She also recorded just two errors on 14 attempts as the team combined hitting .313 with 36 kills on 83 attempts and ten errors.
Kate Shirkey dished out 15 assists and
Rachel Selmore contributed ten assists while
Karina Almeda and Iwaskiw led the team's defense with nine and eight digs respectively.
Samantha Main collected five assisted blocks,
Sarah Mulligan picked up two service aces and the team collected eight total team blocks in the win.
For NJCU, Shege Haxhaj led the way with five kills and Rachel McIntyre dished out 15 assists as the Gothic Knights hit a combined 17-86 with 26 errors hitting -.105 in the loss. The defense was led by Amber O'Donnell with ten digs.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, September 24th when they travel to Hunter College for match-ups with Manhattanville and Hunter at Noon and 2pm respectively.
