WESTERN CONNECTICUT FIELD HOCKEY SLIPS PAST RAMAPO 4-3

Danbury, CT:  The Western Connecticut State University field hockey team came back to defeat Ramapo College 4-3 with four unanswered goals in the second half. The Colonials improve to 3-4 overall while the Roadrunners now stand at 2-4 on the year.

Stephanie Gallo got the Roadrunners on the board with their first goal of the game in the 10th minute (9:12) off a pass from Nicole Healy for a 1-0 lead. Christina Bacino added a goal in the 28th minute (27:10) unassisted taking a into 2-0 lead into halftime along with a 7-4 advantage in shots in the game.

Gallo and Healy combined for the Roadrunners third goal in the game, this time to start the second half in the 37th minute (36:03) for a 3-0 lead before the Colonials would make their come back. Olympia Moulton put her team on the board just 1:14 later with a goal (37:17) off a pass from Jacalyn Doerwald. Stephanie Clapp (49:25) posted the team's second goal of the game before Greta McConnell scored her fourth goal of the season to tie the game at three in the 52nd minute (51:17). Janelle Kennedy scored her first goal of the season, unassisted, to put Western Connecticut up 4-3 with under 14 minutes to play.

Ramapo could not find the back of the net to extend the game as the Colonials came away with the come from behind victory. Kristy Trotta tallied ten saves in goal for Western Connecticut while Emily Wisneski tallied seven for the Roadrunners.

Ramapo returns to action when they host Manhattanville College in a non-conference game on September 27th at the Athletic Center turf field at 4pm.
