LaPlume, PA: The Ramapo College field hockey team opened the 2016 season on the road today at Keystone College. The Roadrunners came away with a hard fought 2-1 victory over the Giants. This was the season opener for both teams.
Gianna Mouskourie put the Roadrunners on the board just 15 minutes into the game off a pass from
Lauren Berry for a 1-0 lead. Ramapo would out shoot Keystone 7-2 in the first half.
In the second half,
Nicole Healy put the Roadrunners up 2-0 with the eventual game-winning goal when Ramapo was awarded a penalty stroke. Healy converted on her first goal of the season for the 2-0 score. For the Giants, Briana Sotiropoulos took a cross from Shelby Croasdale and went on a fast break hitting the back of the cage to come within one 1-2.

Emily Wisneski made five saves in the game including four in the late in the second half.
Stacey Faria stopped a ball to earn a defensive save in the second half and to keep the Giants from scoring. Ramapo out shot Keystone 13-7 in the game and 7-5 in penalty corners.
The Roadrunners return to action on September 8th on the road at Saint Thomas Aquinas College for a game at 4pm.
