FRANZONI & LOPES LEAD RAMAPO OVER ARCADIA 2-1

Mahwah, NJ: Sophomores Edward Franzoni and Malik Lopes helped propel the Ramapo College men's soccer team to a 2-1 win over non-conference rival Arcadia University today at the Athletic Center. The Roadrunners remain undefeated at 5-0 overall while the Knights suffer their second loss of the season and stand at 3-2.

In the first half, Lopes scored (44:57) the first goal for the Roadrunners with three seconds left on the clock. Sophomore Ryan Campbell's throw in landed inside the 18-yard box allowing Lopes to get a foot on it and score as time was about to expire. This was Lopes first goal this season. Ramapo outshot the Knights in the first half 9-5 while Arcadia edged the Roadrunners in corner kicks 3-1.

In the second half Franzoni scored the eventual game-winner in the 64th (63:06) minute. A deflection off a corner kick came out and Franzoni slammed it into the back of the net for his second goal this year and a 2-0 lead. The Knights would make things interesting in the final four minutes of the game when Bradley McKim tallied his team leading fourth goal of the year. Arcadia was awarded a free kick just outside the 18-yard box in the 87th (86:31) allowing McKim to take the free kick. He slipped the ball past the diving Roadrunner goalkeeper to cut the lead to 2-1. Neither team would get a shot off in the final three minutes of the game as the Roadrunners came away with the home victory.

Junior Ryan Sprague posted four saves in the net for the Roadrunners in 90 minutes of action. For the Knights, Chris Watson tallied three saves. Ramapo held a slight advantage in shots 15-12 while Arcadia recorded six corner kicks to Ramapo's two.

Ramapo opens up New Jersey Athletic Conference action this weekend when they travel to Montclair State University for a game at 7pm.
