Hoboken, NJ: The Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team, ranked #14 in the NSCAA preseason national poll, defeated Ramapo College tonight, 9-1. This was the season opener for both teams. Ramapo returns to action on Sunday, September 4
th on the road at Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham for a matchup at 4pm.
 
Zisi Komar notched two goals in the first half to help propel the Ducks to a 4-0 lead heading into halftime. Komar opened the scoring for Stevens with a goal in the 11
th minute before Gabby Mathelier put the Ducks up 2-0 with a goal in the 14
th minute. Komar tallied her second goal of the game in the 21
st minute before Carly Bean scored on a penalty kick in the 32
nd minute. The Ducks out shot the Roadrunners 13-3 in the first half while the Ramapo defense was able to catch the Ducks offside nine times to Ramapo's one in the half.
 
Stevens added five goals in the second half while the Roadrunners got on the board in the 59
th minute. Sophomore 
Michaela Knoblock scored the first goal of the season for Ramapo unassisted. The Ducks added two goals in the final ten minutes of the game to extend their lead 9-1. Stevens was once again caught offside seven times in the second half while they out shot Ramapo a combined 28-9 and 16-4 on goal.
 
Elizabeth Harvell tallied seven saves for the Roadrunners while Lindsey Mahnken and Madi Chollett combined for three saves in the game for the Ducks.
