Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College baseball team shutout the College at Old Westbury today 10-0 at Jeff Maund Field. The #4 ranked team in both the D3baseball.com & ABCA Top polls, the Roadrunners improve to 18-1-1 overall while the Panthers fall to 13-9.
Tyler Curto (1-0) fired a two hitter over six inning of work for Ramapo with eight strikeouts and only two walks.
Casey Jervis and
Kyle Haag worked the final three innings and did not surrender a hit or a run in relief. Jervis struck out two with one walk in two innings of work while Haag struck out one in the ninth.
Ramapo got on the board in the bottom of the first when
Joe Venturino lifted a sac fly to right field plating
Matt Chemis with the game's first run to take a 1-0 lead. The Roadrunners added five runs in the third on four hits extending their lead 6-0.
Rob DeAngelis doubled, Chemis walked and Venturino singled to load the bases before
Connor Walsh ripped a two RBI single to left center allowing DeAngelis and Chemis to score. Venturino later scored on a wild pitch before
Scott Paulus drove home two runs with a hard hit single down the right field line.
The Roadrunners added two more runs in the sixth inning both with two outs. DeAngelis singled home Paulus while
Bobby Shannon later scored on a wild pitch to take an 8-0 lead. In the eighth inning,
Vincenzo Sita ripped a double to right field with the bases loaded to drive home the final two runs for the Roadrunners for a 10-0 lead.
Chris Eveigan and Shannon scored on the play.
DeAngelis, Venturino, Paulus and Shannon all collected two hits in the game while Sita, Walsh and Paulus led the team, each driving in two RBI. The Roadrunners belted out ten hits and scored ten runs in the game.
The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow when they travel to Montclair State University for a NJAC conference game at 3:30pm.
