#4 RAMAPO BLANKS LEHMAN, 12-0

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College baseball team, ranked #4 in the nation, scattered 11 hits, scored 12 runs, and let up just three hits as the shut out the Lightning of Lehman College, 12-0 today at Jeff Maund Field.  With the win the Roadrunners jump ahead to 17-1-1 overall on the year.  Lehman falls to 6-14.
 
The Roadrunners quickly got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the 2nd inning with a run from Mario Fontanella on an RBI single to right field from Ryan Doerr.  Ramapo would take a 3-0 lead in the 3rd after Matt Chemis ripped a single to center field scoring Rob DeAngelis who was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and Chemis later came home on a sac fly from Austin Unglaub.
 
With two runs in the 4th, one each from Doerr and Chemis, Ramapo would lead 5-0 after four innings of play before Brandon Martinez led off the 5th with a solo home run and Fontanella and DeAngelis each scored after being hit by a pitch and singling respectively earlier in the inning to get on base to go up 8-0.
 
The Roadrunners went scoreless in the 6th and 7th innings before scoring four additional runs in the 8th sealing the non-conference win.  With one out and bases loaded, Chris Nierva drew a walk bringing home Jared Ensmenger and Henry Myerchin singled to short stop driving home Joe CrabbeKevin Cagnetta followed with a single to score Chris Eveigan before Evan Ochlan was hit by a pitch to cross Nierva.  Robert Sartori would close out the top of the 9th assisting in the 12-0 shut out win for Ramapo. 
 
Martinez hit 2-5 on the day with one run and one RBI while Chemis hit 1-1 with two runs scored and one RBI.  DeAngelis got one hit on two at bats with two runs scored and Fontanella scored two runs of his own on the day.
 
CJ Growney gets the win after pitching seven innings.  He let up just two hits, striking out seven and walking one.  Growney gets his first win of the season standing at 1-0 overall.
 
Emanuel Castro posted the loss to fall to 0-2 on the year.  He pitched three innings letting up three hits and four runs.  He struck out two and walked four.
 
Ramapo returns to action tomorrow when they host Old Westbury at Jeff Maund Field at 3:30pm.
