RAMAPO BASEBALL FALLS AT WESTERN CONNECTICUT STATE

Danbury, CT:  The Ramapo College baseball team fell to Western Connecticut State University on the road today 7-3. The Colonials improve to 14-15 overall while the Roadrunners now stand at 27-7-1 on the year.
 
The Roadrunners took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning before the Colonials came back with five runs in the bottom half of the inning. In the top of the second, Jared Ensmenger ripped a single to center field plating Austin Unglaub who led off the inning with a double.
 
WestConn went ahead 5-1 in the bottom half of the second. Stanley Rijo singled home Kyle Maclean before John Kelly laced a triple into the right-center field gap allowing two runners to cross home plate.  Bill Buscetto drove home Kelly with a single of his own while Matt Greene poked a single through the left side of the infield as Buscetto to score with the fifth run of the inning.
 
Ramapo added one run in the top of the third. Connor Walsh doubled before Ensmenger picked up his second RBI of the game with an infield single to come within three 2-5. The Colonials added one run in the fourth to go up 6-2 before Ramapo tacked on one more run in the top of the fifth. Brandon Martinez led off with a triple before Unglaub lifted a sac fly to right field to come within three 3-6.
 
WestConn extended their lead to four with a run in the seventh 7-3 and held the Roadrunners the rest of the way to earn the non-conference victory.
 
Joe Venturino, Rob DeAngelis, Martinez and Ensmenger all collected two hits a piece in the game. Tyler Curto (2-1) took the loss in the game working 1.1 innings with one strike out and two walks while he surrendered five runs, all earned.
 
The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow when they host Baruch College in a non-conference game beginning at 3:30pm.
