Lindsay Hughes scored a golden goal in overtime to propel the Ramapo College women's lacrosse team to a 10-9 victory over Manhattanville College today in a non-conference match-up on the road. With the win the Roadrunners improve to 6-4 overall. Manhattanville falls to 5-3.
Ramapo's
Alyssa Tachon scored two goals in the final 1:35 of regulation to tie the game at 9-9 and force an overtime period and it would be Hughes who capitalized on a free position shot with 2:24 on the clock to give the Roadrunners the one-goal, 10-9 overtime win.
Seven different Roadrunners scored on the day with Tachon leading the way with three goals. Hughes added two and

Emma Bolton,
Beth McGraw,
Brianna Himpele, and
Katie Duca each contributed to the win on offense. Two assists were awarded in the game. One each to Cunningham and Hughes. Bolton and
Jessica Meyers grabbed a team high four ground balls and Hughes led with seven draw controls.
In the first half of play, Manhattanville held a 19-8 advantage in shots and Meyers collected eight saves to Evaline Diaz's five. The score was tied at 3-3 at the halftime buzzer after Kat Reilly opened up the scoring for Manhattanville and Cunningham answered to tie the game at 1-1 with 24:27 on the clock. Manhattanville went up 2-1 with a goal from Carly Weiss but McGraw and Bolton tallied back-to-back goals for Ramapo to earn a 3-2 edge. Reilly would strike again with just under 11 minutes to play in the half and the score would remain tied at 3-3 for the remaining minutes.
The Valiants came out on fire in the second half taking a three-goal, 6-3 lead before Duca closed the gap to 4-6 with a score at 15:54. It looked as if Manhattanville was taking control posting two more goals to go up 8-4, but the Roadrunners didn't back down as they connected three straight, one each from Himpele, Tachon, and Hughes to come within one, 7-8 with 9:12 to play. Jenna Nance would give the Valiants a 9-7 lead with 7:28 to go but with just 1:35 on the clock, Tachon would put Ramapo within one, and then tie the game with just two seconds on the clock forcing overtime. Hughes would grab the game winner in the overtime period giving the Roadrunners their sixth win of the season.
The Roadrunners held a 16-14 advantage in shots in the second half, and a 2-1 edge in the overtime period, while Meyers collected six additional saves in the reminder of the game. Diaz finished the game with five more saves.
Reilly and Nance led the Valiants with three goals each and Reily picked up a team leading seven ground balls.
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, April 6th when they host FDU-Florham at 4:00pm.
