Box Score 2 Mahawh, NJ: The Ramapo College softball team swept a NJAC doubleheader from Stockton University today at the Athletic Center 2-0 in game one and 7-5 in game two. The Roadrunners improve to 11-5 overall, 2-0 in the NJAC while the Ospreys fall to 12-6 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
In game one,
Katrina Buczkowski fired a six-hit; four strike out performance shutting out the Ospreys 2-0. Ramapo broke through in the fifth inning with both of their runs.
Ally Spellman walked before
Danielle Saporito laced a double down the right field line, putting runners on second and third. Following one out,
Melissa Moreno lifted a sac fly to center field plating Spellman with the eventual game-winning run. The Roadrunners tacked on an insurance run later in the inning when Saporito came home on a wild pitch for a 2-0 lead.
Ramapo held Stockton in their final two at-bats to earn the win.
Harper Patsko led the team with two hits finishing 2-3 in the game while Saporito,
Grace Brennan and Spellman all collected one hit.
In game two, Stockton took a quick 2-0 lead after the top of the first inning before Ramapo's
Nicole Mahoney erased the Osprey lead with a two-out grand slam to left-center field putting the Roadrunners in the lead 4-2. Following back-to-back outs in the bottom of the first Moreno,
Melanie Walling and
Mikayla Melendez all singled to get on base before Mahoney came up big with her second home run of the season.
In the second inning, Saporito ripped a double to deep center field allowing Patsko to come around and score. Patsko laced a double down the left field line to lead off the inning. Ramapo added one more run in the third inning to take a 6-2 lead when Patsko beat out an infield single as Melendez came across touching home plate.
In the sixth, the Ospreys came back with three runs on three hits to come within one, 6-5. Dorris knocked home Samantha Shockey before two runs came across following an infield fielder's choice.
Mahoney responded for Ramapo in the bottom of the sixth with a solo home run on the first pitch she saw, this time to right field, to put the Roadrunners up 7-5. Ramapo held the Ospreys in the top of the seventh turning a 5-4-3 double play before starting pitcher
Christina Brizek recorded the final out with a pop fly to left field.
Brizek improves to 7-1 overall with the complete game win while scattered five hits. Patsko and Mahoney led the team with two hits each while Mahoney recorded five RBI.
The Roadrunners return to action on April 5th when they travel to New Jersey City University for a doubleheader beginning at 3pm.
