MSU DEFEATS RAMAPO IN WOMEN'S LACROSSE

Mahwah, NJ:  The Montclair State University women's lacrosse team defeated Ramapo College 20-7 today at the Athletic Center. The Red Hawks improve to 8-5 overall, 1-2 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners fall to 6-8 overall, 0-4 in the conference.
 
Lindsay Lare led the Red Hawks with four goals while Serena Hitchins, Francesca Verrone and Kara Crampton each recorded three goals each. Chelsea Orban, Kasey Maguire and Aviana Paraggio all posted two goals while Nicole Francis added one of her own. Hitchins led the team with four assists while Maguire and Orban both collected two in the game.
 
Rebecca Myers started in goal for the Red Hawks earning the win with two saves in the game while Alexandrea Tepper tallied two saves of her own.
 
MSU tallied three straight goals to start the game before Ramapo's Lindsay Hughes got the Roadrunners on the board with an unassisted goal to come within two, 1-3. The Red Hawks scored four more goals before Hughes tallied back-to-back goals, 3-7. Lare added a goal on a free position shot before Alyssa Tachon put in back-to-back goal for Ramapo to come within three, 5-8 with just under four minutes to play in the first half. MSU would record the next four goals to end the first half, taking a 12-5 lead into halftime.
 
In the second half, MSU tallied six straight goals to extend their lead to 18-5. Hughes scored Ramapo's first goal of the second half with 15:17 on the clock before Beth McGraw scored off a pass from Tachon to score the final goal of the game with 38 seconds on the clock. MSU came away with a 20-7 road win.
 
Hughes led the team with four goals while Tachon added two and McGraw one.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on April 23rd when they travel to Rutgers-Camden University for a NJAC game beginning at 1pm.
