Galloway, NJ: The Stockton University baseball team swept a pair of games from #1/2 Ramapo College today, 7-2 in game one and 4-1 in game two. The Ospreys improve to 7-18 overall, 4-6 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners now stand at 23-4-1 overall, 7-3 in the conference.
Ramapo got on the board in game one with one run in the top of the first.
Matt Chemis led off the game with a walk before he stole second base and moved to third on
Rob DeAngelis single down the left field line. Chemis was able to score when Stockton threw down to second base as DeAngelis got thrown out trying to steal.
In the bottom of the second, Stockton came back to score six runs on seven hits to take a 6-1 lead. The Ospreys recorded four straight RBI singles chasing Ramapo starter
Brian Cottrell from the game. They the tacked on two more runs before the Roadrunners could get out of the inning. The Roadrunners added one run in the fourth. With the bases loaded
Brandon Martinez lifted a sac fly to right field plating DeAngelis, who led off the inning with a single to right center field.
Stockton added an unearned run in the seventh inning to extend their lead 7-2. Aidan Ryan (2-3) struck out six, walked four and scattered just three hits in the complete game win for the Ospreys.
Brian Cottrell (3-1) took the loss for Ramapo working the first 1.1 innings, surrendering seven hits and six runs.
CJ Growney came in for relief in the second inning working the final 6.2 innings with five strikeouts, one walk and five hits.
In game two, Stockton got on the board with two runs in the bottom of the third before Ramapo scored their lone run of the game in the top of the fourth inning.
Joe Venturino walked and advanced to second and third base on two wild pitches before he game home on an RBI groundout from
Connor Walsh to come within one 1-2.
The Ospreys extended their lead to 4-1 with single runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Stockton pounded out 11 hits in the game while the Roadrunners only recorded two.
John Doherty (4-2) took the loss for Ramapo working the first 2.1 innings. He struck out one, walked three and surrendered five hits.
The Roadrunners return to action on Tuesday when they travel to St. Joseph's College – LI for a non-conference game at 4pm.
