Montclair, NJ: The Ramapo College baseball team earned their 20th win of the season with a 9-1 NJAC road win at rival Montclair State University. The #4 ranked Roadrunners improve to 20-1-1 overall, 4-0 in the NJAC while the Red Hawks even their record to 12-12 overall, 3-3 in the conference.
The Roadrunners scored two quick runs in the top of the first inning before they added one in the top of the third to take a 3-0 lead. With two outs in the top of the first inning,
Rob DeAngelis and
Connor Walsh stood on second and first respectively before
Austin Unglaub ripped a double to drive home the first two runs of the game. In the third inning, Ramapo added one run when
Joe Venturino walked and later scored when
Brandon Martinez laced a single to left field to pick up an RBI.
MSU scored their lone run in the bottom half of the third inning Ryan Long led off with a triple and came home on an infield ground out from Kevin Murphy. Martinez recorded his third home run of the season with a three-run shot to left field plating Venturino and Unglaub for a 6-1 lead. The Roadrunner added one run in the seventh and two in the ninth extending their lead 9-1.
Ryan Rinsky put down a sac bunt in the seventh inning allowing Unglaub to cross home plate. With one out in the ninth inning
Bobby Shannon took the first pitch he saw and drove home

Mike DiGirolamo with a double for the final two runs of the game.
Brian Cottrell (3-0) earned the win striking out two, walking one and scattering six hits in five innings of work.
Casey Jervis worked the sixth and seventh inning striking out one and walking one while
Greg Westhelle and
Jerry D'Andrea each struck out two working the eighth and ninth innings respectively. None of the relievers surrendered a MSU hit.
Ramapo pounded out 13 hits in the game while Unglaub finished 3-5 with two runs scored and two RBI while Martinez was 2-5 with a team leading four RBI and one run scored.
Ramapo returns to action tomorrow, April 12th, when they travel to Western Connecticut State University for a non-conference game starting at 3:30pm.
