Madison, NJ: The Ramapo College baseball team, ranked #4 in the nation, posted a 7-7 tie today to the Devils of FDU-Florham after nine innings of play. Due to darkness the game was called putting Ramapo at 13-0-1 overall on the year. FDU-Florham stands at 5-8-1 overall.
The Roadrunners fell behind 0-3 after three innings before the top of the 4th inning brought two runs to close the gap to 2-3.
Scott Paulus drilled a ball over the center field wall to lead off the inning scoring one before
Rob DeAngelis drove in
Ryan MacNaughton after MacNaughton singled up the middle earlier in the inning.
In the 5th, Ramapo tied the game at 3-3 with a run from
Joe Venturino who reached base on an infield single. He was driven in by a double from Paulus. The Roadrunners would find themselves leading in the 6th inning with an additional run, this time from
Ryan Rinsky who came home after
Connor Walsh was hit by a pitch with bases loaded and two outs. FDU answered in the bottom of the inning with a solo home run from Christopher Franco to tie the game once again, 4-4, and in the top of the 8th Ramapo would again go on top with a single run from
Matt Chemis who crossed home plate on an RBI single from
Austin Unglaub and in the 9th, the Roadrunners jumped ahead 7-4, looking for the one-two-three bottom of the 9th to close out the game. Venturino ripped a single to the left side with bases loaded and two outs. With the hit Venturino drove in
Bobby Shannon and Rinsky who singled and doubled respectively earlier in the inning to reach base.
The Devils matched Ramapo's runs in the bottom of the 9th as they crossed three to tie up the game, 7-7. Nicholas LaVecchia scored and Frankie Tassielli and Josh DellaPietro scored forcing extra innings. But due to darkness the game was called giving the teams the non-conference tie.
Venturino hit 4-6 with one run scored and two RBI while Paulus went 2-5 on the day with one run and two RBI. Rinsky hit a perfect 2-2 and scored two runs while Chemis posted two hits on four at bats with one run scored. MacNaughton got a hit and a run in the game as Shannon also scored a run of his own with one hit.
Brian Cottrell started the game for Ramapo on the mound. He pitched three innings and struck out one. He let up eight hits on the day.
Casey Jervis came in on relief as he pitched three innings of his own. He struck out four and let up just two hits and one run.

FDU-Florham also used seven pitchers with White starting the game and pitching two innings. He let up one hit and struck out two. Tassielli led the team hitting 2-3 with one run scored and Franco went 2-4 with one run and two RBI. David Wilbur also drove in two runs hitting 1-5.
Ramapo returns to action on Monday, March 28th when they host Misericordia University at 3:30pm.
