Auburndale, FL: The #9/12 Ramapo College baseball team defeated Wheaton College (MA) today 8-5 extending their win streak to 12 games and now stand at 12-0 overall. The Roadrunners will return to action tomorrow afternoon at 3:30pm when they take on #10/13 University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in their final game at the RussMatt Invitational.
Ramapo scored three runs in the first and two runs in the second before Wheaton got on the board in the top of the fourth inning.
Rob DeAngelis led off the first inning for Ramapo with a solo home run, his first of the year, before
Matt Chemis ripped a double to right-center field.
Joe Venturino walked and stole second before
Austin Unglaub drove home Chemis with an infield groundout. Venturino came home on an infield error later in the inning to take a 3-0 lead.
With two outs in the second, DeAngelis reach on an error, stold second and scored when Chemis laced a triple into center field. Venturino then drove home Chemis with a single to left field extending their lead to 5-0.
Wheaton would come back to score four runs in the fourth to come within one run of tying the game 4-5. The Lyons scored two runs when they drew back-to-back bases loaded walks – both with two outs – which chased Ramapo starter

Jerry D'Andrea came in for relief and let up a single, which scored a pair of runs for Wheaton before D'Andrea recorded a strikeout to end the threat.
In the sixth, Ramapo would get three runs back thanks to a three-run homerun from
Bobby Shannon when he drove the ball over the left field fence to extend the Roadrunner lead 8-4. Wheaton scored one run in the top of the ninth and brought the game winning run to the plate before D'Andrea induced a groundout to second base to end the threat.
D'Andrea earned the win in relief with five strikeouts, two walks and one run scored in 5. 1 innings of work. Recarte worked the first 3.2 innings for Ramapo finishing with six strikeouts, five walks and four earned runs.
Shannon finished 2-4 with one run scored and three RBI and Chemis added a 2-4 day with two runs scored and one RBI while Paulus also collected two hits on three at-bats.
