Winter Haven, FL: The #9/12 Ramapo College baseball team used a 21-hit attack to defeat Framingham State University 18-9 today for their 11th straight win. The Roadrunners now stand at 11-0 overall while the Rams stand at 2-1 overall.
Framingham held a 2-1 lead heading into the top of the fourth inning before Ramapo came back to score four runs. With one out and the bases loaded,
Jared Ensmenger scored on a pass ball before
Rob DeAngelis and
Matt Chemis recorded back-to-back walks allowing
Ryan Rinsky to score. Joe Venturno lifted a sac fly to left field plating
Bobby Shannon before
Austin Unglaub drove home DeAngelis with a single to left field for a 5-2 lead.
The Rams scored two in the bottom of the fourth, one unearned before Ramapo came back to score four runs on four hits in the fifth inning. Ensemenger led off with a walk and later scored on a wild pitch before DeAngelis and
Bobby Shannon scored on a throwing error later in the inning.
Connor Walsh drove home Venturino with a hard hit single to left field for a 9-4 lead. The Roadrunners added five runs in the seventh inning to take a 14-4 lead. The inning was highlighted by RBI singles from Venturino, Walsh, and Unglaub.
In the seventh, the Rams added three runs on the board before Ramapo added four runs in the top of the eighth extending their lead 18-7. Framingham St. added two runs on three hits in the eight before the Roadrunners closed out the game in the ninth for an 18-9 win.
Greg Westhelle (3-0) earned his third win of the season in relief. He worked 2.1 innings with three strikeouts, two walks as he scattered three hits. Venturino led the team at the plate finishing 3-4 with two runs scored and three RBI while Walsh and Unglaub also collected three hits and three RBI.
Vincenzo Sita and
Ryan MacNaughton each finished 2-2.
The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow against Wheaton College (MA) at 4:15pm.
