Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

LACROSSE FALLS TO BRIDGEWATER

Bridgewater, VA:  The Ramapo College women's lacrosse team fell to Bridgewater College (VA), 7-19 today falling to 1-3 overall on the year.  With the non-conference win, Bridgewater improves to 4-2 overall.

Alyssa Tachon led the Roadrunners with three goals and Beth McGraw (2), Lindsay Hughes (1), and Victoria Cunningham (1) each contributed on the day but it wasn't enough as Bridgewater took the match-up 19-7 in Virginia. 

Caroline Fletcher opened the scoring at 28:36 and Tachon tied the game just 30 seconds later before Bridgewater would connect four straight goals to take a 5-1 edge with 19:53 to play.  Hughes posted her first goal of the game at 18:33 and Sarah Yashinskie answered quickly to put Bridgewater ahead 6-2, before McGraw tacked on a goal for Ramapo in the seventh minute to close the gap, 3-6.  Cunningham put the Roadrunners within two goals (4-6) at 10:13 but Bridgewater would score four to Ramapo's one in the remainder of the half to go into halftime leading Ramapo, 10-5. 

Tara Ward made seven saves in the first half and Rachel Gruber made nine for Bridgewater as Ramapo held a 21-17 advanatage in shots in the first 30 minutes of play. 

Bridgewater came out on fire in the second half and scored the first seven goals of the period to go up, 17-5 over Ramapo with 12:30 to go in the game.  Tachon tacked on two goals in the last few minutes and Bridgewater added two finishing the game with Bridgewater on top, 19-7 at the buzzer. 

Ramapo again held a shot advantage in the second half, 12-10, but it was Gruber who posted the win blocking nine additional shots.  Ward and Monica Bubello split goaltending duties in the second half for Ramapo making one save. Nina Bochna led Ramapo with three ground balls.

The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, March 19th when they host Sage at 1pm at the Athletic Center in Mahwah.
