Winter Haven, FL: The Ramapo College baseball team defeated Anderson University (IN) today 9-2 at the RussMatt Invitational. The #15 Roadrunners remain undefeated at 6-0 overall while Anderson falls to 2-7 overall.
The Roadrunners got on the board in the fourth inning for a 2-0 lead.
Matt Chemis led off with a triple to right-centerfield before
Connor Walsh drove him home with a double to right field.
Austin Unglaub then drove home Walsh with a fielder's choice. In the fifth inning, Ramapo tacked on one run when
Rob DeAngelis knocked home
Bobby Shannon with a single to right field to take a 3-0 lead. In the sixth inning, the Roadrunners broke open the game with four runs on three hits for a 7-0 lead. The bases were loaded for Unglaub who ripped a double to right field plating
Joe Venturino and Walsh.
Ryan Rinsky then drove home
Joe Crabbe with a sac fly to left field before Unglaub scored on a fielder's choice.
Anderson got on the board in the sixth inning with two runs before Ramapo added single runs in the seventh and ninth innings for a 9-2 lead. In the seventh, pinch runner
Kevin Cagnetta scored on a wild pitch before
Henry Myerchin scored on a throwing error by Anderson.
Nick Recarte earned his first win of the season with a four-hit, six inning performance. Recarte struck out three and walked two.
Kyle Haag worked the final three innings with four strikeouts while he surrendered no runs and only two hits. Chemis led the team at the plate with a 3-4 day with one run scored while Walsh finished 2-4 with two runs scored and one RBI.
