#15 RAMAPO DEFEATS UMASS-DARTMOUTH 7-3

Winter Haven, FL:  #15 Ramapo College defeated the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth today 7-3 at the RussMatt Baseball Invitational. The Roadrunners remain undefeated at 5-0 overall.

Ramapo scored one run in the fourth and two runs each in the bottom of the fifth, sixth and eighth innings. The Corsairs (1-1) scored their runs in the top of the sixth and seventh innings.

The Roadrunners plated their first run of the game in the bottom half of the fourth inning when Bobby Shannon smacked a double to left field plating Austin Unglaub with the games first run. Unglaub singled to right field with two outs earlier in the inning. In the fifth inning, with the bases loaded Scott Paulus lifted a sac fly to right field allowing Chemis to tag up and touch home plate. UMass-Dartmouth could not get Chemis out at home and tried to get Connor Walsh advancing to third; as the throw from the Corsairs defense sailed into left field allowing Walsh to come around and score for a 3-0 lead.

The Corsairs got two runs back in the sixth inning before Ramapo came back to plate two of their own in the bottom half of the sixth. Venturino drove home both runs with a double to left field for a 5-2 lead.

UMass-Dartmouth scored one in the seventh while Ramapo added two runs in the eighth inning. Ryan Rinsky saw the first pitch he saw and drilled it over the left field fence for his first home run of the season before Shannon laced a double down the left field line and later scored on Venturino's RBI single to center field.

Eli Garcia (1-0) earned the win on the mound for Ramapo working 5.1 innings while he struck out four, walked three and scattered two hits.
