Mahwah, NJ: The Kean University men's volleyball team pulled out a 3-1 (25-15, 20-25, 29-27, 25-16) win over Ramapo College tonight at the Bradley Center. The match-up slated two Skyline conference teams with undefeated records against each other with the Cougars coming away with the win to improve to 11-5 overall, 5-0 in the conference while the Roadrunners now stand at 6-8 overall, 5-1 in the Skyline.
The Cougars won the first set 25-15 before Ramapo came back with a 25-20 win in game two. The two teams battled point for point in game three, seeing Kean come out on top 29-27 before the Cougars handled the Roadrunners in game four 25-16.
Kean was led by three players who tallied double-digit kills as Tommy Rosario led the team with 18 kills and hit .517 in the match. Jacob Kauffman added 14 kills of his own, hitting .481 while Bill Fischer added ten kills. Kevin Barrow dished out a team high 46 assists while Fischer led the team on defense with 11 digs. The Cougars tallied six solo blocks and 19 assists blocks in the game. Rosario and Nick McIntyre each recorded five assisted blocks. The team posted 52 kills on 116 attempts with 14 errors, hitting .328 for the match.
Ramapo was led by
Justin Feigeles who tallied 19 kills while
Nick Amos added eight and
Jordan Elam and
Paul Close posted seven of their own.
Mikhael Erushalimski led the team with 41 assists while Feigeles recorded ten digs to lead the team on defense. Close added eight digs and two assisted blocks while Amos added two assisted blocks of his own. Ramapo hit .150 in the match with 49 kills on 133 attempts with 29 errors.
The Roadrunners return to the Bradley Center this Saturday when they host Medaille College at 10am prior to a Skyline Conference tri-match with Sarah Lawrence (12pm) and St. Joseph's College Brooklyn (4pm). Sarah Lawrence and St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn will play each other at 2pm.
