Newark, NJ: The Ramapo College men's volleyball team fell to #5 Rutgers Newark, 0-3 (19-25, 18-25, 21-25) tonight in a non-conference match-up on the road. With the loss the Roadrunners fall to 4-7 overall while the Scarlet Raiders improve to 12-1 on the year.
The Roadrunners were led by
Paul Close on the night as he collected a team leading 12 kills hitting .259.
Justin Feigeles put away eight kills and
Patrick Wixted added six kills of his own in the loss. The team combined for 31 kills on 81 attempts with 19 errors hitting .148. Rookie setter Mikhael Erumshalimski dished out 30 assists and
Spencer Shickora led the team's defense with eight digs.
For Rutgers Newark, Corey Piper led the team with 12 kills and Travis Mintzer added nine, as the team combined for 37 kills on 81 attempts with 14 errors hitting .284. Kevin McCandless contributed on 31 points with 31 assists and Quocmy Nguyen led the team with 11 digs on defense.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, February 20th when they travel to Jersey City for a match-up with Mt. St. Vincent at noon and NJCU at 2pm.
